URGENT: DCDLA Security Alert Regarding Phishing Scams

It has come to our attention that several members have received a fraudulent email today appearing to be from the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (DCDLA) with the subject line “Alert: Membership update.”
This is a scam. Please do not interact with this email or download any attachments.
How to Identify the Scam
The fraudulent email asks you to update your information by opening a Word document attachment to “avoid membership suspension.” Please note these red flags:
- The Sender Address: The email is sent from
members@ddcdla.com. Please note that the official DCDLA domain is dcdla.com. - Malicious Attachments: The email includes a .doc file. Do not download or open this attachment. These files often contain malware or ransomware designed to compromise your computer and firm data.
- Urgent Tone: Scammers use threats of “immediate suspension” to create panic and bypass your better judgment.
What You Should Do
- Delete the email immediately.
- Do not click any links or download any attachments.
- If you have already opened the attachment or provided information, we strongly recommend contacting your IT professional or changing your account passwords immediately.
