The Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (DCDLA) is dedicated to serving as the voice of the criminal defense bar in Dallas County and advocating for the protection of constitutional rights. Our website address is: https://dcdla.org.

What Personal Data We Collect and Why

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist in spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images hosted on the site.

Contact Forms

If you submit a contact form on our site, the information provided will be forwarded to the respective party within DCDLA. Information submitted via the form—along with your IP address, browser type, and the date/time—will be transmitted to the recipient. Form submissions are not stored on the website server itself.

Cookies

• Comments: If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for your convenience. These last for one year.
• Login: If you have an account and log in, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
• Preferences: When you log in, we set cookies to save your login info and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks.
• Publishing: If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved to indicate the post ID. It expires after 24 hours.

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold. This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
